Job Circular for the position of Research Assistant (Psychologist)

 

Vacancy:
• 10 Persons.

Job Context:
• MHPSS research project.

Job Responsibility:
• The psychologist will work closely with the other research assistants (psychologists, para counselors), data coordinator, survey manager and trainer.
• One psychologist and one para counselor will work as a pair. During daily data collection, psychologist and para counselor need to show flexibility to support each other and to collect quality data in a timely manner.
• Actively participate in a training in using the research instruments including administering a semi-structured clinical interview for adolescents (K-SADS) and brief mental health questionnaires for adolescents (such as the PHQ-9, GHQ-12, GAD-7, and PTSD) and procedure around handling data and research ethics.
• Travel (in pairs with a para counselor) to pre-selected households in Rohingya camps to administer the K-SADS and questionnaires to the selected household members (Rohingya and host adolescents and care giver)
• Ensure that correct ethical and research procedure around informed consent are followed
• Conduct the clinical interview through the K-SADS tool (this is the responsibility of the psychologist) and work with the para counselor to administer the other tools. 
• Ensure confidentiality for the participants and collect and store data in a safe way according to the data protocols by the research coordinator.
• In case of emotional distress in the participant of family members, the psychologist is responsible to assess psychosocial issues and in consultation with the research coordinator and supervisor, take action (for example providing advice or referral), (‘Do no Harm’) including link the beneficiary to the existing MHPSS services in the camps (if it is required).
• Checking the collected data on a regular basis, share data related concern to research consultant and data coordinator and detect errors and support the team to ensure quality data collection.
• Attend the daily team meetings and share any data related concern to team lead with possible solution.
• Attend in person and online supervisions sessions for psychologist and para counsellor on research data.
• Support data cleaning for error free data and share the data on a regular basis to data coordinator.
• Submit final report on K-SADS and MHPSS instruments (PHQ9, GHQ12, GAD 7, PTSD, self-portrait) with pairs on daily basis. 

Employment Status:
• Short term contract (daily basis, for 35 days).

Education Requirements:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in psychology and/clinical social work, MBBS degree with training in mental health or any related field.

Experience Requirements:
• Experienced in the relevant field is preferable.

Additional Requirements:
• Experience in data collection in mental health is desirable
• Working experience in MHPSS project in Rohingya context. The candidate needs to have sufficient psychosocial skills to manage a therapeutic interview
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Kobo tool/ ODK etc. (through tablets)
• Proficiency in Rohingya dialect, as an added value
• Ability to work in team and make decisions quickly
