Monitoring and MIS

Monitoring, third-party review, MIS systems, assessments and evaluation form other forte of RTMI. RTMI worked as a resource organization to design a ‘Monitoring and Evaluation Plan’ of the Bangladesh health sector. It also worked as an external Monitoring Agency (MA) in HIV and AIDS Targeted Intervention (HATI) for UNICEF. In 2011, under a contract with World Bank, RTMI conducted the Third-Party Monitoring and Verification of textbook distribution, from Directorate of Primary Education to the bottom down distribution/monitoring channel to all Primary Schools of the county. RTMI was contracted by Maxwell Stamp, between 2009-10, to carry out the Third-party verification of outputs under ‘Char Livelihood Program’, the DFID funded livelihood and food security program.  On satisfactory performance, the assignment was extended for another one year. Management of Information is a key tool for successful implementation of any project. The use of data for decision making is essential for a successful MIS. As capacity building partner under Bangladesh AIDS Program, Private Sector Health project and in education program for Rohingya refugees, RTMI used a structured MIS system - data collected and managed through this system was useful in supervising project performance against the set indicators of the project.

RTMI has conducted end-of project evaluations, process evaluations and impact evaluations for different international agencies. Recently, under a partnership with Social Impact, RTMI assisted the team in conducting the Mid-term evaluation of USAID funded “Promoting Democratic Institutions and Processes (PRODIP) project”. Under the same partnership agreement, a series of performance evaluations, impact assessments are being carried out between 2012-2014.  Major evaluations include: USAID supported Child Survival Program of CONCERN Bangladesh, the UNFPA project ’Strengthening RH Services for Urban Poor’, Country’s community clinics pilots managed on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh by DIFID/USAID/CIDA and two public sector projects on reproductive health, ’Strengthen BCC Unit to Support Advocacy Activities’ and ’Capacity development through training for RH Program’. RTMI has also evaluated the country program in Bangladesh of German Red Cross Society. In 2011, RTMI conducted the impact evaluation of ‘Private Sector Health’ project to document the changes at impact level as a result of interventions undertaken. The President, Executive Director, the Directors and other staff were involved in many reviews and designing of health and population programs and projects including the design and development of ADB funded UPHCP project. RTMI is also working as the national Secretariat of Bangladesh Monitoring and Evaluation Network (BDMEN).
